“This is legitimately a game changer in navigation.”
Harley at How To Boating recently reviewed DITCH and this is what he had to say:
“I know a lot of you rely on your own past tracks for safe water, but now there is an app called @ditchnavigation to show you where other boats have gone. These tracks are based off of past AIS data showing you where boats have been before. If you are going to a new area that you are unfamiliar with, I would reference this app to get a little bit more familiar with where you need to go. It’s super helpful especially for trips in shallow areas like the keys or some rivers.
There are two kinds of sailors: those who run aground and those who lie about it. There are also those who use DITCH Navigation.
If I go to a place that I am not familiar with (in this case lets say it’s Miami), with the app I can see where others have been and find safe water. For instance, here is a channel. All of these dots are showing past tracks of other boats, which is really cool.
So if you go somewhere new, you can see all these tracks on the channel. If I go somewhere new, I’m going to reference this.
Boating is all about limiting risks and this is one risk you want to limit.”
Plan on the Big Screen
Did you know Ditch is the only free desktop app that lets you pre-plan your trips? We personally love using a big screen for planning, so we were disappointed when Navionics removed this feature over the summer. But hey, we've been offering it all along! Start planning here (it's free!),
